Aircond Warranty in Malaysia: How to Check, Register and Claim (Acson, Midea, Daikin, Panasonic)
Most aircond in Malaysia come with 1 to 3 years on parts and 5 years or more on the compressor, but only if you register on time and keep the right papers. Here's how to check yours and how to claim.
Short answer: most home aircond sold in Malaysia come with 1 to 3 years' warranty on general parts and 5 years on the compressor, and some Midea inverter models advertise up to 10 years on the compressor. To keep that cover you usually need to register online soon after purchase, keep the original receipt and the warranty cards, and have the unit serviced the way the brand's terms require. After the first year, compressor warranties usually cover the part only, so you may still pay for labour and gas.
Warranty at a glance: Acson, Daikin, Panasonic, Midea
These are the terms each brand publishes as of November 2026. Warranties change with models and promotions, so always confirm against your own warranty card or the brand's website.

How to check if your aircond is still under warranty
- Find the purchase date. It's on your receipt or invoice. Every warranty counts from this date, not the installation date.
- Find the warranty cards. A split aircond usually has two: one for the indoor unit and one for the outdoor unit, often with different terms.
- Read the serial numbers. They're on the nameplate sticker: on the side panel of the outdoor unit, and behind the front cover of the indoor unit. Take a photo of both.
- Look for the registration email. When you register online, most brands send a confirmation email. Search your inbox for the brand name.
- Ask the brand. Call or message the brand's customer service with the model and both serial numbers. They can tell you whether the unit is registered and when the cover ends.
Acson warranty check
Acson doesn't have a public page where you type a serial number to see your warranty status. Check your Acson registration confirmation email, or call the Acson Careline on 1-300-22-3344 with the model and the serial numbers of both the indoor and outdoor units.
How to register a new aircond (do it the day it's installed)
- Register online straight away. Acson asks for registration within 10 days of purchase, and Midea's longer compressor cover only activates after online registration. Don't leave it.
- Register both units. Enter the model and serial number of the indoor and the outdoor unit.
- Keep the paperwork together. Put the receipt and both warranty cards in one envelope, and keep phone photos of them too.
- Buy from an official store or authorised dealer. Units bought from unofficial online sellers may be parallel imports without local warranty. Midea, for example, tells buyers to check the SIRIM label, serial number and warranty card after delivery.
How to make a warranty claim
- Contact the brand's service line, or the dealer you bought from. Give the model, both serial numbers, the purchase date and what's wrong. If the indoor display is blinking or shows an error code, note it down or take a video.
- Have the receipt and warranty card ready. Without them, brands can charge for parts even inside the warranty period.
- The brand's authorised technician inspects the unit. If it's a manufacturing defect, the covered part is repaired or replaced.
- Ask what you'll pay before work starts. After year 1, compressor claims usually cover the compressor itself but not the labour, gas and other materials to fit it.
What an aircond warranty usually doesn't cover
- Installation faults. A leaking flare joint, a wrong drainage slope or undersized piping is the installer's responsibility, not the manufacturer's.
- Servicing, cleaning and gas topups. These are maintenance, not defects.
- Damage from outside causes, such as power surges, lightning, water ingress or pests chewing cables. These are commonly excluded; check your card's terms.
- Tampered or missing serial numbers.
- Mixed brands. Acson, for example, voids the warranty if its indoor or outdoor unit is paired with another brand.
Servicing while your aircond is under warranty
Some brands, including Acson and Daikin, say the unit must be serviced by their authorised dealers to keep the warranty valid. If your aircond is still in its warranty period, check your card before you book any independent servicer, including us. We'd rather tell you that upfront than have you lose a compressor claim.
Once the manufacturer's warranty has ended, there's no such restriction. Every job we do comes with our own 30-day workmanship warranty, and our aircond service prices are listed openly.
Out of warranty and something's wrong?
Most faults on an out-of-warranty unit are not the compressor. Capacitors, fan motors, sensors, drainage and gas leaks are far more common and much cheaper to fix. Start with our guide to why an aircond is not cold, or book a diagnosis on our aircond repair page: RM88 for a non-inverter wall unit, credited to the repair if you go ahead.
If you're buying a new unit, our installation includes vacuuming, a gas pressure check and a full cooling test, so the unit is installed the way the brand's warranty expects.
