Acson is a brand with deep Malaysian roots, long one of the most common air-cond brands in local homes, and it sits in the affordable, practical tier. It is part of the same group as Daikin, which helps parts availability locally. For a servicer this matters: there is an enormous installed base of older Acson units across KL and the Klang Valley, so it is one of the brands we service most. Parts are very available and affordable locally.

Because so many Acson units in service are older non-inverter models, the faults are the classic aging-unit pattern, worn capacitors, tired fan motors, dirty coils losing cooling, and gas leaks on units a decade or more old. The newer Acson inverter range fails more on the electronic side. The typical Acson call is an older unit that has lost cooling and needs a clean, a capacitor and a leak check rather than anything exotic.

Acson parts have excellent local availability and are affordable, helped by the brand's long presence and group ties in Malaysia. Common parts for both older and current models are easy to source quickly, which keeps repair costs low and makes keeping an older Acson running a reasonable option.

Acson warranty follows the usual structure, a longer compressor term and a shorter general-parts term, with registration for the full period. Check parts-versus-labour coverage and authorised-service requirements if your unit is still covered. Most Acson units we see are well out of warranty given the older installed base, in which case our 30-day workmanship warranty applies to our work.

Sizing as for any brand: 1.0HP up to about 150 sq ft, 1.5HP around 150 to 250, 2.0HP around 250 to 400, 2.5HP around 400 to 550. Many Acson units still running are older non-inverters. If yours is past ten years, leaks gas repeatedly or the compressor is weak, replacing with an inverter cuts running cost on a daily-use room. If the old unit still cools well after a service and only needs a capacitor, keeping it is reasonable given how cheap and available Acson parts are.
